Each week we’re publishing some questions to think about based on the Sunday messages & Bible readings.
These can be used in home groups, with others or on your own, and are designed to help you engage in the passage and themes in more depth and reflect on how God might be speaking to you through them.

Icebreaker Question
Can you think of a place — or a person’s home — where you have felt especially welcomed, settled, or at peace? What made it feel that way?
Opening Prayer
Loving God, thank you that you welcome us into your presence, not because we have earned our place, but because Jesus has made the way for us.
As we gather in your name now, help us to be attentive to each and to you.
May this time help us see Jesus more clearly as the way, the truth and the life, and may we receive afresh the life he offers.
Reading & Questions
Read John 13:31-14:20
- Jesus promises that he is preparing a place for his disciples in his Father's house which has 'many rooms' (14:2). How does this picture help us understand God's generosity and grace?
- Jesus claims to be truly God and therefore the one who reveals God to us. How does looking at Jesus shape or challenge your understanding of God?
- Jesus promises (14:20) that one day his disciples will realise that He is in his Father, they are in Him and He is in them. In other words, in him they will be drawn into the eternal communion of the Trinity. How does this deepen or change your understanding of salvation and eternal life?
- What does it mean to say that Jesus is the way, rather than just a moral guide who shows us the way?
- In the sermon, James cautioned against trying to find our own way to God through our understanding, good works or belief. What might it look like this week to stop striving and simply receive, rest, or abide in Jesus?
Closing Prayer
Pray together, asking that the Spirit of truth would help you know and trust that Jesus is who he says he is and the way to life in God.
Pray that you would be drawn afresh into the eternal communion of the Father, Son and Spirit, and would find rest there.
