Each week we’re publishing some questions to think about based on the Sunday messages & Bible readings.
These can be used in home groups, with others or on your own, and are designed to help you engage in the passage and themes in more depth and reflect on how God might be speaking to you through them.

Icebreaker Question
When have you needed light to find your way—literally or metaphorically?
Prayer
Lord Jesus, thank you for bringing us together today.
Please help us to hear your voice, understand your word, and walk in your light.
Be with us as we talk, and help us to encourage one another and draw closer to you.
Amen.
Reading & Questions
Read John 8:12-20 & John 9:1-43
- We're told in John 7 that Jesus was speaking in the temple in Jerusalem during the Feast of Tabernacles. Why do you think His words would have carried such weight spoken in this context? What do they reveal about who he is? What does it mean for Jesus to say that He is 'The Light of the World?'
- What does this passage suggest about the connection between Jesus and the Father? How does that deepen our understanding of who Jesus is?
- In the story of the blind man, what do you notice about the journey from physical sight to spiritual sight (and the Pharisees parallel journey in the other direction)? How does this reflect our own journey of faith?
- In the sermon, James suggested that it’s possible to know about Jesus without really drawing close to him. What do you think helps us move from knowledge about Jesus to actually walking with him?
- In 1 Corinthians 4:5 Paul says that God will '...bring to light what is hidden in darkness and will expose the motives of the heart.' How easy do you find it to try and hide certain parts of your life from God? What would it look like to let Him shine His light into those places?
Closing Prayer
Conclude this time together by praying for the world, our church, for those you love and for each other.
Pray especially that God's light would shine in the darkest places in our world and lives, and that you and your loved ones would come to know Jesus as the source of salvation and the light of the world.
