Each week we’re publishing some questions to think about based on the Sunday messages & Bible readings.
These can be used in home groups, with others or on your own, and are designed to help you engage in the passage and themes in more depth and reflect on how God might be speaking to you through them.
This week we had our monthly Splash! service, which means there is no recording. However, you can still dig into the Bible passage we looked at in the service by reading the passage and thinking about the questions below.

Icebreaker Question
Can you recall a time in your life when you experienced the church working together as a team and everyone using their different gifts to good effect?
Reading & Questions
Read 1 Corinthians 12:12-27
- Read verse 13. Why is Paul keen to make a point about Jew, Gentile, Slave and Free all receiving the same Holy Spirit? Check out Joel 2:28-32 and Galatians 3:26-28
- How helpful do you find the image of the church as a body? Does it help us appreciate one another?
- Have you ever felt like your gifts/skills were less worthy or less appreciated than someone elses?
- What do you think God would say about that? (v 18)
Read 1 Peter 2:4-6
- This is a connected but slightly different metaphor. What does it mean that God is building us together to be a spiritual house?
- Jesus is the cornerstone of our spiritual house. Are there ways that God would have us make Jesus even more central to our life together? What would this look like?
Closing Prayer
Pray together – For God’s presence amongst us as his people, for our working together and our appreciation of each other’s gifts.
Pray too for those members of God’s Church who need His special blessing today – as when one suffers we all suffer.
